There are so many beautiful places around Steamboat to ask one of the biggest questions of your life, and honestly, it's hard to go wrong when you're surrounded by mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and some of the most incredible scenery Colorado has to offer.

1. Fish Creek Falls
Fish Creek Falls will always be one of my favorite proposal locations in Steamboat Springs.
It's iconic for a reason. The waterfall creates an incredible backdrop year-round, whether you're visiting during the green summer months, peak fall colors, or winter when the falls freeze into a stunning ice formation.
One of the things I love most about Fish Creek Falls is how accessible it is while still feeling adventurous and uniquely Colorado. The sound of the waterfall, the surrounding trees, and the mountain scenery make it feel romantic without feeling overly staged.
If you're planning a surprise proposal, this location works especially well because it's easy to build into a normal day of exploring Steamboat. After the proposal, we can spend time capturing engagement photos around the trails while you're still enjoying all of the excitement and emotion of the moment.

2. Steamboat Resort
If you're visiting Steamboat Springs for a vacation, Steamboat Resort offers some of the most memorable proposal opportunities in the area.
One of my favorite options is purchasing a sightseeing pass and taking the gondola to the top of the mountain during the summer or fall. The views overlooking the Yampa Valley are absolutely incredible, and there are several beautiful spots near the top that make the perfect setting for a proposal.
Whether you're enjoying the mountain views, hiking together, grabbing a drink at the top, or simply taking in the scenery, it creates a proposal experience that feels both adventurous and romantic.
During the winter, a ski vacation proposal can be just as special. There's something pretty magical about getting engaged while surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

What makes Steamboat Lake especially great for proposals is how peaceful it feels. Compared to some of the more popular locations, it often provides a little more privacy, allowing couples to slow down and really enjoy the moment together.
Whether you're visiting during summer when the lake reflects the mountains or fall when the surrounding trees begin to change color, it's hard to find a prettier setting.

4. Along the Yampa River
The Yampa River is one of the things that makes Steamboat feel like home.

Some of my favorite proposals haven't happened at the most popular locations.
They've happened at family cabins, favorite hiking trails, fishing spots, ski runs, and places that hold special meaning to a couple's story.
The truth is, the best place to propose in Steamboat Springs is often the place that means the most to the two of you.
